Charles John "Jack" Chipp Jr., 87, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, passed away August 21, 2017, at his home, surrounded by his loved ones and under the care of Access Hospice. Jack was born February 23, 1930, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Charles John Chipp Sr. and Aytha Marshall Chipp. He grew up and attended schools in Salt Lake City and graduated from West High School. He served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. On August 24, 1956, he married Rita Mae Twitchell in Las Vegas, Nevada. To this union were born four children, Pamela, Kenneth, Christine, and James. They made their home in Salt Lake City, where Jack worked for 44 years as a clerk for the Union Pacific Railroad, from which he retired. He also worked at the Hotel Utah for 15 years. In 1993 Jack and Rita moved to Rigby, Idaho, where they lived until 2000, when they decided to travel for a few years and have some adventures. They spent six enjoyable years as campground hosts for the Arizona Strip Campground between St. George, Utah, and Mesquite, Nevada. Afterwards they came back to Idaho and lived in Ammon and Idaho Falls. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed motorcycles, hunting, camping, shooting, bike rides, working on cars, and being with his family. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Jack is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Rita Chipp of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Pamela Mallard of Idaho Falls, ID, son, Kenneth (Penny) Chipp of West Valley City, UT, daughter, Christine (Rodney) Swasey of Duchesne, UT, son, James (Kathy) Chipp of Kearns, UT, brother, Bruce Chipp of South Jordan, UT, 15 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren He was preceded in death by parents, a son-in-law, Larry Kevin Mallard, and a grandson, Lucius Swasey. Funeral Services will be held at 11:15 a.m. Friday, August 25, 2017, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue. The family will visit with friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Friday at Wood Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Ammon Cemetery.
