J. TED JOHNSON IDAHO FALLS, ID -- J. Ted Johnson, 83, of Idaho Falls, formerly of Cowley, died July 7, 2003, at Good Samaritan Nursing Center. He was born January 22, 1920, in Cowley, Wyoming, to John Edward Johnson and Inez Geraldine Johnson. He grew up in Cowley and attended schools there, then graduated from Byron High School. He served in the U. S. Navy and was at Pearl Harbor when it was bombed at the beginning of World War II. He rejoined the armed forces in the 1950's in the U. S. Army, as a Supply Sergeant, and he served in the Vietnam War as well before his retirement in the 1970's. He married Clara Nadine Egan November 27, 1946, in Billings, Montana. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. He was a career military man most of his life and managed a propane distributorship after his retirement. In 1967 they returned to Wyoming and made their home in Powell. Three years ago they moved to Idaho Falls to be near their daughters. An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served as a High Priest. He was a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a beautiful whistler and enjoyed tinkering with machinery. Surviving are: Wife: Nadine Johnson, Idaho Falls, ID Daughter: Nancy [Helmut] Wörle, Idaho Falls, ID Daughter: Linda [Larry] Singleton, Osgood, ID Sister: Alice Webster, Bountiful, UT 11 Grandchildren & 8 Great Grandchildren He was preceded in death by five brothers, Bruce, Glenn “Perry,” Milas “Mike,” Van, and Rex, three sisters, Maude, Malena, and Verona, and a grandson, Jared Wörle. Graveside Funeral Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 12, 2003, at the Cowley Cemetery in Cowley, Wyoming. The family will visit with friends on Saturday beginning at 9 a.m. at Haskell Funeral Home, 459 Nevada Avenue, Lovell, Wyoming. Burial with Military Rites will be in the Cowley Cemetery under the direction of Haskell Funeral Home.
