J. WALTER ASPER
IDAHO FALLS, ID -- John Walter Asper, 88, of Idaho Falls, died October 4, 2001, at the Lily Assisted Living Center
He was born April 4, 1913, at Idaho Falls, to George W. Asper and Jemima Rachel Chapman Asper. He grew up and attended schools in Idaho Falls, graduating from Idaho Falls High School.
He married Myrtle Sarah Farnsworth May 20, 1933, at Long Beach, California. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. He lived in California and Oregon, where he worked for the Bureau of Land Management. He returned to Idaho Falls and owned his own business for 17 years, building potato equipment, consisting of potato scoopers, harvesters, and pilers. He worked for Bonneville County Road & Bridge Department for 13 years prior to his retirement. Myrtle passed away October 31, 1994.
He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was also a member of the Idaho Falls Elks Lodge. He enjoyed small engine repair, gardening, fishing, and especially helping others.
Surviving are:Son: David Alan Asper, Coeur d'Alene, IDDaughter-In-Law: Janet Asper, Bountiful, UT 9 Grandchildren, 13 Great GrandchildrenHe was preceded in death by his wife, a son, Ronald, a brother, and one sister.
Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, October 8, 2001, at the Wood Chapel of the Pines, with Bishop Jared Fuhriman of the Idaho Falls LDS 11th Ward officiating.
The family will visit with friends on Monday for one hour prior to the services at Wood Funeral Home.
