Ivan H. Hopla, 85, of Blackfoot, passed away Tuesday, August 22, 2017, at The Willows in Blackfoot. He was under the care of Access Home Health and Hospice and his sister, Karen, niece, Christy and great nieces Trinity and Maddix, by his side.
He was born on Aug 14, 1932, to Frank J. and Sarah E. Ison Hopla in Riverside, Idaho. Ivan attended school in Riverside and Moreland, Idaho. In 1953, he joined the US Army and served in Korea.
On September 22, 1963, he Married Elizabeth (Betty) Thomas. They were later divorced.
Ivan lived in Idaho, California and Oregon. He retired from Ivy Hi-lift May 24, 1994.
Ivan is survived by his step son, Dirk Thomas of China; sisters, Lafay Larsen of Oregon; and Karen(Wayne) Short of Blackfoot, Idaho.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank J Hopla and Sarah E. Ison Hopla; sister, Maxine Roark; brother, Kay Hopla and ex-wife, Elizabeth Hopla.
Military Honors will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 23, 2017, at the Riverside-Thomas Cemetery. Celebration of Life will follow at Wayne & Karen’s Home.
