Ivan Burden

Alfred Ivan Burden, 86, of Idaho Falls, passed away September 17, 2017, at his home. He was under the care of his loving family and Avalon Home Health and Hospice. Ivan was born October 1, 1930, in Bertrand, Nebraska, to Ray Alfred Burden and Grace Patton Burden. He grew up and attended schools in Idaho and graduated from Shelley High School. Ivan also attended Idaho State University where he earned his Bachelors Degree in Pharmacy. On January 30, 1952, he married Kathryn Mattson in Pocatello, Idaho. To this union were born five children, Debbie, Nancy, Mike, John and Tina. Ivan and Kathryn made their home in Idaho Falls, Idaho, where he owned and operated B & B Drug and Kathy’s Hallmark in Idaho Falls. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Ivan served as the President of Idaho State University Alumni Association and was a Charter Member of the Idaho Falls Civitan Club. Ivan is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Kathryn Burden of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Debbie (Scott) Murdock of West Jordan, UT; daughter, Nancy (Rocky) Deschamps of Shelley, ID; son, Mike (Tracy) Burden of Nampa, ID; son, John (Pauline) Burden of Ririe, ID; daughter, Tina (Steven) Anderson of Snohomish, WA; sister, Esther Withers of Oklahoma City, OK; sister, Hope Neely of Eugene, OR; 27 grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Eldon, Don and Ray Burden, and two sisters, Maxine Oltmanns and Una Mae Martin. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, September 23, 2017, at the Azalea LDS Church, 1165 Azalea Drive, with Bishop Matt Hansen officiating. The family will visit with friends Friday from 6:30-8:00 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue, and Saturday from 10:00-10:45 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Taylor Cemetery.
