ISABEL WALKER
IDAHO FALLS, ID - Isabel Ida Durtschi Walker, 86, passed away on July 20, 2005. She was born on July 12, 1919, in Driggs, Idaho, to Alfred and Ida Durtschi. She married Wilson Clark Walker on their birthdays, July 12, 1947, in the Idaho Falls Temple.
Mom was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She loved the gospel with all her heart and served in many callings including as a missionary in Texas and California in her youth, Primary and Relief Society President, Cub Scout Leader, and Relief Society Music Leader. She and dad served a mission together as Directors of the Mormon Battalion Visitors Center in San Diego.
Mom had a Christ-like heart and showed it through everything she did. She never let an opportunity of charitable service pass her by. She raised African Violets as a special gift for those needing a pick-me-up. Her family was her pride and joy. Capturing family moments on film was one of her passions and she filled many photo albums with photos of special family events and outings. Her home was open to old friends and new friends . She and Dad have been an inspiration of goodness and unconditional love to all who crossed their path.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Wilson Walker; her children, Marie Wood, Bennett, Colorado; Marilyn Walker, Idaho Falls, ID; Janeen (Rod) Jones, Provo, UT; Brent (Loura) Walker, Idaho Falls; Annette (Robert) Ossmen, Provo, UT; Connie (John) Sasine, South Jordan, UT; 25 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 1 great, great grandchild; sisters, Lucille Edlefsen and Lucy Phillips, both of Rigby, ID, a brother, Walter Durtschi, Rexburg, ID, and a sister-in-law, Marian Butler, Driggs, ID.
She was preceded in death by her son, Devon Walker and a brother, Arnold Durtschi.
In lieu of flowers, we would like to give family and friends the opportunity to contribute to the Isabel Walker Humanitarian Fund at Key Bank.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. at the Sugar City Stake Center, 315 East 3rd South, with Bishop Russell Thurston of the Sugar City 3rd Ward officiating.
The family will visit with friends Sunday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue, and for one hour prior to services Monday at the church.
Burial will be in the Sugar City Cemetery under the direction of Wood Funeral Home.
