LANDON Click here to view Irvin's Video Tribute IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Irvin Gene Landon, 82, of Idaho Falls, died March 28, 2010, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center, surrounded by his family. Irvin was born December 22, 1927, in Kimball, Idaho, to Henry R. Landon and Althora Gene Martin Landon. He spent his early years in Idaho Falls and Mackay, growing up with six sisters and five brothers. He graduated from Idaho Falls High School, where he excelled in boxing and was awarded a golden glove for his achievements.. He married his sweetheart, Melba Jean Stoneberg, December 21, 1949, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple and they had 60 wonderful years together. Irvin farmed for many years in Osgood and also worked as a custodian at Osgood Elementary School. An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Irvin served in the Young Men and Elder's Quorum Presidencies, in the Osgood Ward Bishopric, as Ward Clerk, on the Stake High Council, as a missionary, and in the Idaho Falls Temple Visitor's Center. He and Melba were temple officiators in the Idaho Falls Temple for 10 years, where they made many eternal friends. After retiring from farming, he carried his love for the soil in his passion for gardening. He enjoyed spending time with his brothers and sisters, and loved to play with and tease his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He and Melba enjoyed traveling and quilt making. One of his great attributes was his generosity to his family and friends as well as anyone in need. Survivors include: Wife: Melba Landon, Idaho Falls, ID Son: Stanley (Debbie) Landon, Idaho Falls, ID Daughter: Karen (Gary) Mugleston, Yakima, WA Daughter: Cindy (Dan) Morris, Ashland, OR Son: Barry (Sue) Landon, Idaho Falls, ID Daughter: Susan (John) Griffin, Idaho Falls, ID Daughter: Adele (Travis) Dye, Idaho Falls, ID 29 Grandchildren & 30 Great Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Althora Landon, a brother, Alden Landon, a sister, Peggy Moore Wilson, and a grandson, Bryce Irvin Mugleston. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 2, 2010, at the Idaho Falls LDS Osgood Ward, 7940 North 35th West, with Bishop Gregg Landon officiating. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge, and Friday from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at the church.
