Effie Irene Peasley Hammer Machen, 93, of Idaho Falls, passed away August 24, 2018, at Good Samaritan Society Idaho Falls Village. Irene was born August 9, 1925, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Allen Peasley and Effie Peasley. She grew up and attended schools in Idaho Falls and attended Eagle Rock Elementary, Clair E. Gale Junior High and graduated from Idaho Falls High School. Following graduation from high school she received training at Mountain Bell. On January 8, 1948, Irene married Cleon G. Hammer. From this union were born five children, Clifford, Karen, Anthony, Reed and Kathy. Irene and Cleon were later divorced. On June 20, 1975, she married Harry E Machen in the Idaho Falls Temple. Irene and Harry made their home in Idaho Falls where Irene worked as a telephone operator for Mountain Bell. Harry passed away on December 30, 1988. Irene was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ Latter-day Saints. She enjoyed genealogy and family crafts. Irene is survived by her loving daughter, Karen (Chris) Rynn of Rossford, OH; daughter, Kathy (Jeff) Didier of Cottonwood, ID; son, Clifford (Seta) Hammer of Rexburg, ID; son, Reed (Terri) Hammer of TX; sister, Thelma (Grant) Gallup of Idaho Falls, ID; 17 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Anthony, her first husband, Cleon G Hammer and her second husband, Harry Machen. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, August 29, 2018, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge Avenue, with Tom Gallup officiating. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to the services. Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery.
