Irene Hartwell

Click Here To View Memorial Video Irene Pearl Breeden Hartwell, 90, of Idaho Falls, passed away Friday, November 15, 2013 at Good Samaritan Society Idaho Falls Village. She was under the care of Hospice of Eastern Idaho and her loving family. Irene was born March 30, 1923 in Livingston, MT to Elmer Breeden and Pearl Miller Breeden. She grew up and attended area schools. Irene lived in Livingston until 1943 and has resided in Idaho Falls since. On July 23, 1943 she married Anton “Dale” Hartwell in Idaho Falls. Early in married life she worked at the White Star Laundry. She was a homemaker and stayed at home until her family was raised. Later she spent several summers working at Signal Mountain Lodge on Jackson Lake. Dale passed away on July 7, 1995. She was a member of the Baptist Church. Irene taught herself to crochet and made many beautiful scarves, doilies and afghans. She also loved to read and continued to crochet and read until her eyesight failed. She loved to have a flower garden and do yard work. She was an accomplished seamstress and made most of her children’s clothes. She loved to travel and took every opportunity possible to visit family and see new places. Her immediate and extended family were always most important to her and she made sure everyone had what they needed. Survivors include her daughter, Linda Gray of Idaho Falls, ID; Daughter, Cheryl (Gary) Mower of Idaho Falls, ID; Son, Bob Hartwell of Idaho Falls, ID; Son, Dale (Debbie) Hartwell of Boise, ID; Brother, Merle (Lois) Breeden of Laurel, MT; Sister, Avis Norman of Livingston, MT; 6 grandchildren, and 7 great Grandchildren She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale, her parents, two sisters; Mildred Wade and Helen Barnhart and a brother Ernest Breeden. A Gathering will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 30, 2013 at Wood Funeral Home (273 N. Ridge Ave.). Burial will be in Livingston, Montana at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
