IRENE BURKE
IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Irene Elizabeth Gentle Burke, 96,
of Idaho Falls, passed away December 10, 2004, at the home of her son
in Idaho Falls.
Irene was born February 29, 1908, in Idaho Falls, the
eldest of seven children born to Ralph and Mary Morton Gentle. She lived
and attended school in and around Idaho Falls all her life.
She married Rich Burke June 22, 1927, in Jameston, Idaho
Falls, Idaho. She was a homemaker and mother and helped her husband with
their farm and livestock in the Oakland Valley. Rich died December 8,
1981.
Irene was a member of the Idaho Falls First Presbyterian
Church, and at the time of her death was the oldest living member. She
also was a member of Lily Rebekah Lodge #33, New Sweden Needlecraft Club,
Riverdale Social Club, Pleasure Riders Horse Riding Club and was a 50-year
member of the Grange.
She is survived by

13 Grandchildren, 38 Great Grandchildren, and 6 Great Great Grandchildren
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two children, Victor
and Marilyn, and three brothers, Victor, Earl, and Paul Gentle.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday,
December 18, 2004, at the Wood East Side Chapel, 963 S. Ammon, with her
son, Richard Burke, officiating. The family will visit with friends for
one hour prior to the services at Wood East Side.
Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction
of Wood Funeral Home.
