INEZ DORA PHILLIPS CHOATE
IDAHO FALLS, ID - Inez Dora Phillips Choate, 86, of Idaho Falls, died
December 5, 2003, at her home. She was under the care of Aspen Home Health
and Hospice.
She was born March 13, 1917, in Idaho Falls, Idaho to
Phillip Morgan Phillips and Dora Pratt Phillips. She graduated from Idaho
Falls High School and earned her Associate degree from the University
of Idaho Southern Branch in Pocatello. She began playing the violin at
age eight and performed as first chair violinist in the Idaho Falls High
School orchestra as early as age 11, then with the University of Idaho,
Southern Branch Symphony Orchestra. She was also an accomplished pianist
and organist and often per-formed with her violin before business groups.
She served in the Women’s Army Corps during World
War II as a Machine Operator with the rank of Private First Class. She
joined in San Francisco, CA, and served for a year in the Signal Corp,
U.S. Army Intelligence at Arlington Park near Washington, D.C.
She married Martin Douglas Choate December 30, 1944,
at the 14th Street Church of Christ in Washington, D.C. They lived in
Washington for a year, in Dallas and Irving, Texas for 24 years, Klamath
Falls, Oregon for a year, and Idaho Falls for 32 years.
She was elementary school teacher at Fairview Elementary
near her home in Idaho Falls for four years, then taught one year at Roosevelt
Elementary in Pocatello. She trained with and worked for IBM in Berkley,
California for a short time, and had also worked as a payroll clerk, and
in department store sales in Dallas and Irving before her retirement.
She was a member of the Church of Christ and served as
a Sunday school teacher while living in Irving.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Ethel Simmons
and Mary Wilson.
Funeral Services will be at 2:00 p.m., Monday, December
8, 2003, at the Idaho Falls Church of Christ, 2650 Plommon, with Pastor
Mike Tkachyk officiating. The family will visit with friends for one hour
before the services at the Church.
Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction
of Wood Funeral Home.
