On November 10, 2017, our wonderful mother, Ina Ashworth Hamilton Bischoff, 96, passed away in Idaho Falls, Idaho. She had been residing at Fairwinds- Sandcreek Retirement Community for a little over four years. She was under the care of One Source Hospice. Ina was born September 17, 1921, in Beaver, Utah, the second child of Arnold and Caddie Riding Ashworth. She grew up with three brothers and one sister. Ina was baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the St. George Temple. She attended Belnap Grade School and graduated from Beaver High School. Growing up in Beaver, she worked as a soda fountain waitress while in school, then a telephone operator, but her full-time career was as a waitress. On August 27, 1940, Ina married Webster Hamilton and together they raised four children on a farm west of Beaver. She was a fabulous cook; her specialty being homemade bread. She preserved vegetables from the garden and canned fruits for the winter. She worked long hours on the farm during the crop harvest and prepared big meals to serve those working the harvest. Money was tight, so she raised turkeys to sell and pay for Christmas gifts. She was a talented seamstress and made beautiful clothes for herself and children. Ina supported her children’s activities and worked with the PTA in various fund-raising activities. Webster and Ina divorced and in 1962 she moved to Idaho Falls. On August 29, 1970, Ina found her Prince Charming and married Rex Bischoff in Ririe, Idaho. As Rex neared retirement, they began traveling in their Airstream trailer to Palisades Reservoir, Phoenix in the winter, and the Northwest. Each year she and Rex toured with friends to visit exotic destinations. Her favorites were Hong Kong, Tokyo, Puerto Rico, Bermuda, Mexico and Hawaii. Rex died suddenly in Phoenix in 1976. She has missed him everyday. Ina was fortunate to find a delightful traveling companion in Ruth Anderson, and together they explored many foreign destinations. Her favorite trip was visiting China in 1982, a closed country just opening up to tourism. She visited every US state, except the Carolinas. Ina’s hobbies were sewing, especially anything to do with a serger; she leaves behind a mountain of fabric. She enjoyed crocheting, reading good books, collecting emails, but her true passion was collecting Precious Moments. She was an avid card player, belonging to several clubs and she enjoyed bowling. Ina is survived by her four loving children, Faye (Jerald) Richman of St. George and Roy, UT, Judy Banaszynski, St. George, UT, Ray W. (Judy) Hamilton of Arco, ID, and Ralph A Hamilton of Idaho Falls, ID; and her dear sister, Alice (Lyn) Bennett of Ririe, ID. She has six grandchildren, six step-grandchildren, several great grandchildren and numerous great-great grandchildren, along with many adoring nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her infant son, Jimmie, her brothers, Wayne, Jason and Glenn Ashworth and her parents. She also lost two favorite nieces, Jan Boline and Jacilyn Schriffern. The family wishes to thank Drs. Shawn Speirs and Scott Taylor, One Source Hospice, the caring and attentive staff at Fairwinds, especially Diana and Kathy, and Patient Advocate, Pilliya Pettingill, of Advanced Home Health Care. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 18, 2017, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge Avenue. The family will visit with friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. prior to services, both visitations at Wood’s. Burial will be in the Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery.
