Hugh Cox

Hugh Horatio Cox, 82, of Idaho Falls, passed away January 31, 2016, at his home. He was under the care of Hands of Hope Hospice.

Hugh was born May 11, 1933, in Rodeo, New Mexico, to Freddie Foster Cox and Agnes Lee Bull Cox. He grew up and attended schools in Rodeo, New Mexico, and graduated from that area. He also attended the University of Southern California where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering. Hugh served in the United States Air Force as a First Lieutenant during the Korean War.

On April 24, 1954, he married Sonya Donovan. To this union were born three children, Daniel, Mathew, and Eve. They later divorced. Then on May 29, 1969, he married Ann Veronica Oliver in Los Angeles, California. Hugh and Ann made their home in Redondo Beach, where Hugh worked in communications for various aerospace companies in southern California. Ann passed away on April 6, 2000. Hugh moved to Idaho Falls in 2006.

He enjoyed carpentry and computers.

Hugh is survived by his son, Daniel Kelly Cox of Long Beach, CA; son, Mathew Chalmer (Jan) Cox of Sedona, AZ; daughter, Eve (Jeff) Erwin of Idaho Falls, ID; grandchildren, Camille (Danny) Brown, Carolyn (Carsten) Bunker, Cherise (Codey) Smith, Chris Erwin, Nicole Cox, Christopher Cox, Brandon Cox, Samantha Cox, Natalie Cox; great grandchildren, Chaelynn Smith and James Bunker. He was preceded in death by his parents, Freddie and Agnes Cox, two brothers, and one sister. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 6, 2016, in Glendora, California. Burial will be in Oakdale Memorial Park Cemetery.
