Hubert "Hube" Rockwood

Hubert Rushton "HR/Hube" Rockwood, 97, of Iona, passed away September 19, 2018, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. Hube was born December 20, 1920, in Iona, Idaho, to Amos Warren Rockwood and Melissa Genevieve Rushton Rockwood. He grew up and attended schools in Iona and graduated from Iona High School. He trained as an aviation mechanic in the Navy and served as an Aviation Machinist’s Mate First Class during World War II. On November 1, 1946, he married Ethel Ann Oliverson in the Idaho Falls Temple. To this union were born five children, Ann, Yvonne, Craig, Cally, and Todd. Hube and Ethel made their home in Iona, Idaho, where Hube worked as a rancher and owner of the Rockwood Garage. Hube served as an Iona City Councilman for many years. He was a successful businessman, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed working, fishing, gardening, golfing, boating, hunting, traveling, and playing cards. Hube is survived by his loving daughter, Ann (Dale) Jenkins of Duvall, WA; son, Craig (Joyce) Rockwood of Iona, ID; daughter, Cally (Clarence) Holden of Mount Vernon, WA; son, Todd (Melissa Constantine) Rockwood of Minneapolis, MN; sister, Martha Carlson of Salt Lake City, UT; 14 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Amos and Melissa Rockwood; wife, Ethel Ann Rockwood; daughter, Yvonne Rockwood; granddaughter, Trenna Jenkins; grandson, George Andrew Gayman; great granddaughter, Lauren Trenna Jenkins; and great grandson, Henry Werner Biehl. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, September 28, 2018, at the Iona 5th Ward, 7555 North 55th East, with Bishop Ryan J. Reeves officiating. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 6:30-8 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road, and Friday from 12-12:45 p.m. prior to services at the church. Burial will be in the Iona Cemetery where Military Rites will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Team and Navy Honor Guard.
