Howard Wobig

Howard Allan Wobig, 79, of Ammon, passed away on January 24, 2012, at his home. He was born November 24, 1932, in Detroit, Michigan, to Howard Oscar Wobig and Ethel Mae Doyle Wobig. He grew up and attended schools in the area, graduating from St. Clair Shores High School. He served in the U.S. Army as well as the U.S. Air Force during the Korean and the Vietnam Wars. He later attended Idaho State University and Idaho Technical College. On December 17, 1954, he married Lela M. Lee in American Fork, Utah. After 20 years, he retired from the military. He worked as a Senior Operator at Idaho National Laboratories. Howard was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He truly enjoyed his large family especially playing with his grandkids. He also enjoyed model building, flying and the Detroit Lions. Survivors are: Wife: Lela Wobig, Ammon, ID Daughter: Rachelle (Bryan) Blomquist, Orangeville, UT Son: Lee Wobig, Idaho Falls, ID Daughter: Wendy Drollinger, Boise, ID Son: Ron (Debbie) Wobig, Lincoln City, OR Daughter: Tracy (Greg) Hodel, Chubbuck, ID Son: Larry (Meridee) Wobig, Iona, ID Daughter: Aymee (Dave) Richards, Salt Lake City, UT 16 Grandchildren and 7 Great Grandchildren He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 27, 2012, at the Ammon LDS 3rd Ward, 2150 Avocet, with Bishop Sidney Beattie officiating. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road, and Friday from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Ammon Cemetery.
