Howard Louis Schwicht, 81, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, passed away April 21, 2012, at his home, of natural causes. Howard was born February 17, 1931, in Waukegan, Illinois, to Louis Frederick Schwicht and Irene Emeline Chope Schwicht. He grew up and attended schools in Antioch, Illinois. Howard served his country as a Sergeant in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. On September 1952, he married Jane Eunice Benson in Waukegan, Illinois. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Mesa, Arizona LDS Temple in 1960. Howard and Jane have lived in Washington and Alaska, and moved to Eastern Idaho 20 years ago. Howard worked in construction as a Civil Engineer and worked for major construction companies in Washington and Alaska. Upon retiring, he enjoyed farming and raising sheep. An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Howard served in various capacities over the years, including as a member of the bishopric. He loved to work in scouting. Howard enjoyed hunting, fishing, and loved to learn. Howard is survived by his loving wife of nearly 60 years, Jane; Son, Stephen (Debra) Schwicht of Anchorage, AK, Daughter, Karen (Wynn) Jones of Bonnie Lake, WA, Son, David (Cyndi) Schwicht of Idaho Falls, ID, Daughter, Anne (James) Shill of Fairbanks, AK, Daughter, Elizabeth "Liz" (Doug) Brown of Idaho Falls, ID, Son, Howard "Tom" (Sharon) Schwicht of Idaho Falls, ID; Sister, Evelyn (Richard) Riley of WI, Sister, Anne (Fritz) Baumann of WI, Sister, Mary (John) Matteoni of WI; 20 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 28, 2012, at the Idaho Falls LDS Skyline Ward, 2345 West 17th South, Idaho Falls, with Bishop Kirk Larsen officiating. The family will visit with friends from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. Saturday at the church. Burial will follow in the New Sweden Cemetery, where Military Rites will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Team and Idaho Honor Guard.
