HOWARD MEAD
IDAHO FALLS, ID - Howard Dale Mead, a longtime Idaho
Falls businessman, died June 3, 2004.
He was born October 20, 1930, in Idaho Falls, Idaho,
to Archie Dale and Ruth Vogt Mead. He attended Emerson Grade School, Holy
Rosary Catholic School, and O. E. Bell Junior High School. He graduated
from Idaho Falls High School in 1948, where he excelled in football and
track. He attended Idaho State University and the University of Idaho
where he was a member of the Beta Theta Pi Fraternity. On November 19,
1951, he married Carol Joyce Langseth of Idaho Falls, Idaho.
At age fourteen, Howard began his lifelong career in
the automobile industry. While still in his twenties, Howard became a
partner in the first Edsel dealership in Idaho Falls. He worked for Stoddard
Ford for several years before his career moved him to Oregon and California.
In 1967 he returned to Idaho Falls to become a partner in Stoddard-Mead
Ford. Most recently, Howard was in the automobile business with his son,
Greg. Howard was a member of the Ford Motor Company's 20's Group, the
Elks Club, Ducks Unlimited and was involved in the Idaho Falls Downtown
Redevelopment Project. He retired in 1999 to enjoy golfing, traveling
and spending his winters in Arizona
He was an avid bird hunter and fisherman, an enthusiasm
he shared with his son, son-in-law and grandsons. He also enjoyed golf,
traveling, playing bridge, reading and spending time with his wife, children
and grandchildren.
He is survived by his Wife, Carol Mead, Idaho Falls,

Daughter: Christy Dorman (Mike Bodlovich), Bainbridge Island, WA

6 Grandchildren, 1 Great Grandchild.
Sister: Christene (Milton) Dalpino, Port St. Lucie, FL
Sister: Louise (Robert) Hodson, Port St. Lucie, FL, and many nieces and
nephews, all who dearly loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Marcine (Lynn) Bingham
of Idaho Falls.
A memorial service will be Thursday, June 10, 2004, at 3 p.m., at the
Trinity United Methodist Church, 237 North Water Avenue, with Chaplain
Marv Eld officiating.
The family will meet with friends Thursday for one hour
prior to the services at the church. Following the service, there will
be a celebration of Howard’s life at the Sandpiper Restaurant, 750
Lindsay Boulevard, Idaho Falls.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be
sent in the memory of Howard, to the Amercian Lung Association, P.O. Box
7506, Boise, Idaho, 83705.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr.
Tony Golden, and to Dr.’s Krell, Whatmore, O’Byrne, and the
ICU nurses at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center for their outstanding
care and support.
