HOWARD D. BLACK
IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Howard Darwin Black, 79, of Idaho Falls, died July 31, 2006, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.
He was born February 27, 1927, at Blackfoot, Idaho, to Floyd Charles Black and Rose Lucinda Higginbotham Black. At the age of 2, his family moved to The Pahsimeroi Valley, Idaho where he lived until he was 14 years old. He then moved to Moreland, where he attended Moreland High School, and later moved to Challis. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was stationed in the Pacific Theater as well as in Germany. Following the war, he lived in Pocatello.
In 1948, he married Kadi Fietz in Erding, Germany. They were later divorced. On August 26, 1966, he married Barbara Judy Winn in Pocatello. He worked as a Diesel Mechanic and Supervisor. He and Judy moved to Idaho Falls 35 years ago, where they have since resided.
Howard was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, rafting, and four-wheeling.

Daughter: Heidi (Doug) Manning, Kuna
Brother: Calvin Dale Black, Salmon
Sister: Elma Bradbury, Challis
Sister: Janice Hardman, Challis
Sister: Carolyn Cordova, Challis
9 Grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Shirley; two brothers; and a sister.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, August 7, 2006, at Wood Funeral Home (273 N. Ridge) in Idaho Falls. The family will visit with friends for one hour prior to the services. Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park.

I send my deepest condolence on your time of loss. I have many fond memories of Uncle Howard that I will always cherish and hold dear to me. I was always welcomed with such open and loving arms when visiting your home. I am unable to attend the service, but I have you all in my hopes and prayers.
