Horace H. Statham - 09/03/2001 Horace H. Statham - 09/03/2001 HORACE H. STATHAM IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Horace H. Statham, 83, of Idaho Falls, and recently of Orem, Utah, devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, returned to his Heavenly Father on Saturday, September 1st, 2001, at the Mt. Timpanogos Hospital in Orem, Utah. He was born November 17, 1917, in Egin Bench, near Rexburg, Idaho, to Fred R. Statham and Florinda Elizabeth (Flora) Hokanson Statham. He attended Madison High School in Rexburg, Idaho, where he won medals in Cross Country. He served 5½ years in the U. S. Army in World War II in Italy, France, Germany, and in the post war, where he earned the Bronze Star and a Purple Heart. He married Donetta Hooker Excell November 12, 1948, at Thornton, Idaho, and took her daughter, Irene, whose father was killed in the war, as his own. He was a miner, a carpenter, and a truck driver. He was employed by Clyde Hess and Sons and later for V-1 Oil Company in Idaho Falls. He retired with honor. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, holding the office of High Priest and serving in various callings. He worked with his wife in the Idaho Falls Temple for several years. He had a wonderful sense of humor and was beloved by everyone who knew him. He enjoyed his grandchildren and great grandchildren very much. With skilled hands and a willing heart, he was always helping someone. He loved to fish and hunt and had many friends. Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 5, 2001, at the Idaho Falls LDS 22nd Ward, 1235 Juniper, with Bishop Wayne Christensen officiating. The family will visit with friends on Tuesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home, and for one hour prior to the services on Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park under the direction of Wood Funeral Home. Military Rites will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Team.
