HERB VON BORSTEL IDAHO FALLS, ID - Herbert Otto “Herb” von Borstel, 82, of Idaho Falls, passed away August 10, 2005, at Good Samaritan Nursing Center of cancer. He was born December 16, 1922, in San Francisco, California, to Otto C. von Borstel and Harriet Kleinhammer von Borstel. He grew up in San Francisco and graduated from Washington High School. He served in the U. S. Merchant Marines during World War II. He married Cathy Ann Meldrum Sutherland May 17, 1982, in Rexburg, Idaho. He worked as a plumber in various stores and for various companies. Herb loved playing with his dog. Surviving are: His Wife: Cathy von Borstel of Idaho Falls, ID Son: Herb von Borstel of Livingston, MT Daughter: Lynette (Todd) Ritterbush of Livingston, MT Daughter: Deanna (Donny) Davis of Spokane, WA Stepdaughter: Tammy Pearcy of Rexburg, ID Stepson: Scott (Mindy) Sutherland of Rexburg, ID Stepson: Rusty (Joanna) Sutherland of Rexburg, ID 6 Grandsons and 9 Step Grandchildren He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 16, 2005, at the Wood East Side Chapel, 963 South Ammon Road. Military Rites will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Team.
