Herald George Kelly 76, formerly of Idaho Falls, passed away Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg, VA. Herald was born June 23, 1936 in Thermopolis, WY to George William Kelly and Claudia Dottie Skinner Kelly. He grew up and attended schools in the area. On September 4, 1954, he married Mae Marie Molimos in Cody, WY. They then moved to Worland, Wy. Later they moved to Idaho Falls, where he worked for Buttrey Food Stores as the produce manager. Herald would later be transferred to Boise, Nampa, and Missoula, MT. He enjoyed working in retail and meeting new people. Together Herald and Mae raised their two children Dianna and George. In 1983 Mae passed away after a courageous battle with cancer. Herald moved to Pocatello, ID upon the death of his wife and worked as a Lay Pastor in the Christian Missionary Alliance Church. On May 15, 1993, he married Karen Bender whom he met while vacationing in Israel. They then moved to Vienna, VA. The couple lived in England for two years before returning to Virginia in 1996. Herald was an active Christian and Bible study student. He was a very compassionate man and taught Bible study classes in several retirement homes in Virginia. He also enjoyed sports and was very knowledgeable of all professional sport’s statistics and this was the subject of many conversations. Herald enjoyed traveling the world, including Europe, Israel, and Egypt. He also loved visiting his children and grand children in Idaho. Survivors include his loving wife of 19 years: Karen Kelly of Harrisonburg, VA, Daughter: Dianna (David) Skidmore of Idaho Falls, ID and 5 Grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mae Kelly; a son, George Kelly; and 3 brothers Howard Kelly (twin), Samuel Kelly and John Austin. Funeral services will begin at 12 Noon, Wednesday, August 15, 2012 at Alliance Covenant Church (525 South Boulevard). The family will visit with friends from 11:00 to 11:45 a.m. prior to services at the church. Burial will be in Ammon Cemetery under the direction of Wood Funeral Home.
