Henry August Winterfeld, 80, of Idaho Falls, passed away August 7, 2018, from a lingering illness at Teton Post Acute Care & Rehabilitation. Henry was born September 2, 1937, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Herman Henry Winterfeld and Opal Verda Clark Winterfeld. He grew up and attended schools in Swan Valley and attended schools in Idaho Falls and graduated from Ririe High School. He farmed and ranched with his father. Henry married LeeAnn "Fonya" Haroldsen in 1964. They were later divorced. He worked for Snake River Equipment and Logan Equipment. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. He enjoyed traveling and watching and learning about trains. Henry is survived by his his ex-wife, Fonya Morris of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Henry David Robin) Winterfeld of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Herman Jay Winterfeld of Swan Valley, ID; son, Leon August (Rose) Winterfeld of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Dan James (Stephanie) Winterfeld of Austin, TX; 19 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Herman Henry Winterfeld, mother, Opal Verda Clark Winterfeld, his sister Ann Cole, and his beloved cat, Cat. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 15, 2018, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue, with Pastor Stephen Weems of St. John’s Lutheran Church officiating. The family will visit with friends from 10-10:45 a.m. Wednesday at Wood Funeral Home. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
