HENRY E. JENKINS, Jr.
IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Henry Evan Jenkins, Jr., 91, of Idaho Falls, died February 27, 2003, in Salt Lake City, Utah, under the care of Utah Heritage Hospice.
He was born September 27, 1911 in Parker, Idaho to Henry Evan Jenkins and Emma Bird Williams Jenkins. He grew up and attended schools in Parker and St. Anthony and attended the University of Idaho for four years.
He served in the U. S. Navy during World War II.
He married Jeanne L. Johnston in Montpelier, Idaho, August 1, 1941. Their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple March 9, 1951. He worked as Supervisor for the Farmers Home Administration, from which he retired. Throughout their married life they lived in Rigby, Idaho, Vernal and Panguitch, Utah, Jackson, Wyoming, Preston, St. Anthony, Coeur D'Alene, Pocatello, and Idaho Falls, Idaho. His wife preceded him in death on December 6, 1999.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints having served as a Bishopric Counselor, on the Stake High Council, as a High Priest, a Temple Officiator and as a missionary. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Chamber of Commerce and Retired Federal Employees. In his spare time, he enjoyed fly fishing, camping, and gardening.
He is survived by:Son: Max E. (Martha) Jenkins, Athol, IdahoDaughter: Diane (Tom) Beamish, Hilton, NYDaughter: Kathleen (Perry) Anderson, Salt Lake City, UTSister: Gwen Wilson, Pocatello, IDSister: Elda Rudd, Parker, ID9 Grandchildren and 8 Great GrandchildrenHe was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, five brothers and four sisters.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday, March 5, 2003, at the Idaho Falls LDS Lincoln 1st Ward (3700 East Lincoln Road) with Bishop Paul Brizzee officiating.
The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue, and Wednesday for one hour before services at the church.
Military Rites will be performed at the cemetery by the Bonneville County Veterans Team.
Burial will be in the Lincoln Cemetery under the direction of Wood Funeral Home.
The family suggests donations be made to the LDS Church Missionary Fund.
