Henry Ross Gamble Jr., 87, of Ammon, passed away May 13, 2026, at his home. He was under the care of his loving wife, with the help of Brio Healthcare and Hospice.
Henry was born July 1, 1938, in Marthaville, Louisiana, to Henry Ross Gamble Sr. and Rommeiss Vivian (Durr) Gamble. He grew up and attended school in Marthaville, graduating from high school in 1956. He also attended Centenary College. Following his education, Henry served in the U.S. Army for four years before settling into a career in copper mining.
On February 15, 1963, he married Patricia Ruth Hogg in Morenci, Arizona. They were blessed with two children, Spencer and Rebecca. Following Patricia’s death, Henry later married Cheryl Lynn Nordgren, and they enjoyed eight years of love, laughter, and card duels, with Henry winning most.
Henry was a member of Mountain Valley Baptist Church. He enjoyed worshiping and singing hymns with his church family.
Henry is survived by his wife, Cheryl Lynn Gamble, of Ammon, ID; son, Spencer (Betty) Gamble, of Sterling, KS; daughter, Rebecca (Griffin) Neddo, of Elba, ID; brother, Irby (Judy) Gamble, of West Monroe, LA; ten grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Patricia Ruth (Hogg) Gamble; his parents, Henry Ross Gamble Sr. and Rommeiss Vivian (Durr) Gamble; brother, Circe Travis Gamble; brother, Nolan Ross Gamble; sister, Kathleen Ann (Gamble) Boswell; and sister, Carolyn Sue (Gamble) Lee.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 22, 2026, at Mountain Valley Baptist Church, 202 S 7th Ave in Pocatello, ID, with Pastor Elijah Whitecar officiating. The family will visit with friends during the viewing from 10:00–10:45 a.m. prior to services.
Burial will be held at the Ammon Cemetery at 3:30 pm with Military Honors being performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Team and Idaho Military Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to The Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), as Henry was a proud supporter of veterans and his country.
