Helen Munson Jephson, 91, longtime resident of Coltman, passed away at her home on July 20, 2018, from causes incident to age. Helen was born on December 9, 1926, in Milo, Idaho, to Swen and Carrie Munson. She lived in Milo early on, then the family moved to the farm in Coltman. Helen attended Fairview Elementary and Ucon High school. She married Bob (Leslie Allen) Jephson in Tyler, Texas, on November 18, 1944, just before Bob headed off to fight in WWII. Their union was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls L.D.S. Temple on November 25, 1964. She worked hard all of her life, regularly making sacrifices for her family. In addition to caring for her family and home, Helen kept the books for the farming and dairy business, milked cows, sold milk to neighbors, and any other job that needed to be done. She was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and served faithfully in many church callings. But serving her neighbors, family and friends did not require a calling or an assignment. Many were recipients of a warm loaf of bread, cookies, soup, cake, or whatever else was needed. Helen always said, "What would life be like without a family? Family is so important." She is survived by her children, Lee (Wilma) Jephson of Rigby, Idaho; Timm Jephson of Idaho Falls, Idaho; Jessie Jephson of Idaho Falls, Idaho; Janice Jephson of Orem, Utah; Jolene Wilkinson of Salt Lake City, Utah; Al Jephson of West Valley City, Utah; Judy (Jim) Curnutt of Richland, Washington; Joann (Chris) Omer of Holladay, Utah; Paula (Jason) Allen of Dublin, California; Loren (Jane) Jephson of Rigby, Idaho; Jeanette (Gary) McBride of Bainbridge, Pennsylvania; as well as 41 grandchildren and 43 great grandchildren. Her home was open for many others as well, including foreign exchange students, extended family, and friends who needed a place to feel welcomed and loved. Although she knew absolutely nothing about cooking when she was first married, Helen experimented and learned along the way, becoming an excellent cook. No one left her home hungry. She was preceded in death by her parents, Swen and Carrie Elizabeth Bradshaw Munson; husband, Leslie Allen "Bob" Jephson; infant son, Dick; infant daughter, Peggy; her brothers, Jack Munson, Harold (Bud) Munson, Wayne Munson, Edwin Munson; sister, Lenore Jones; and stepsister, Nickie Everett; daughter-in-law, Donna Jephson; granddaughter, Donna Lynne Jephson; and granddaughter-in-law, Ashley Hansen Jephson. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 28, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at the Coltman LDS 2nd Ward, 12448 N. 5th East. The family will receive friends Friday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue, and Saturday one hour prior to the services at the church. Interment will be at the Milo Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the LDS Humanitarian Fund or a charity of your choice.
