Helen Naegle Hansen, 91, of Idaho Falls, slipped peacefully from this life to the next on March 11, 2015, with her expressions of love still lingering that she had spoken to those gathered around her—and that they had spoken to her. She passed away at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center of causes incident to her age.
Helen was born February 18, 1924 in Salt Lake City, UT, to George C. Naegle and Jennie Dora Jameson Naegle. She grew up and attended schools in Salt Lake City, Utah including Granite High School. She also attended BYU in Provo where she met the love of her life.
On June 18, 1947, she married Virgil Dean Hansen in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. To this union were born four children, Michael, Kathleen, Dean, and Connie. Helen and Virgil made their home in Idaho Falls, Idaho, where Helen excelled as a homemaker and mother.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and she served in the Church throughout her life. She was also a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers for over 43 years. She enjoyed teaching LDS seminary at a training school for the disabled, crocheting, bowling, cooking, and teaching her children the art of excellent homemaking. She was a loyal friend and made everyone feel welcome in her home.
Helen is survived by her loving husband of nearly 68 years, Virgil, of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Michael D. (Suzanne) Hansen of Taylorsville, UT; daughter, Kathleen (Stephen) Willer of Boise, ID; daughter, Connie (Dan Moulton) Hurley of Idaho Falls, ID, and a foster daughter, Anna Ziegler, also of Idaho Falls. She has 6 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. She also claims 3 foster grandkids and 8 foster great grandkids.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, her 3 brothers and 4 sisters, and her baby son, Dean.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 21, 2015, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue. The family will visit with friends from 1:00 pm to 1:45 pm prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Grant-Central Cemetery.
