Click Here To View Memorial Video Our angel mother Helen Elaine McCulloch Davenport, 80, of Idaho Falls, passed away from a massive stroke on Thursday, January 23, 2014 at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. Helen was born June 22, 1933, in Salem, Idaho, to Harry Elmer McCulloch and Wanda Ester Ward McCulloch. She grew up and attended area schools, graduating from Sugar-Salem High School. On February 6, 1952, she married Merlin Kay Davenport in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. From this union they were blessed with three children, Christine, Tami and Troy. Merlin passed away on March 1, 1999. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Later-day Saints and served in various capacities including Young Women's President and Stake Young Women's President through most of the 70's and 80's. Helen sang with the Choralaries for over 60 years and was a member of the Idaho Falls Music Club. They honored her recently for being the longest running member of the Choralaires and it was near and dear to her heart. It was only the past year she had to finally quit due to her health. She and Merlin were members of a snowmobile club for years and they covered a lot of territory on those sleds together. She enjoyed gardening, crafts, cleaning and kept her home immaculate and clean. Helen was a devoted mother and grandma and spent a lot of time with her family. Helen and Merlin, in their younger years, taught dance classes for the stake and civic functions. They also sung beautifully together for church functions as well as funerals and weddings. Helen and Merlin used to be in operettas and plays when they lived in Rexburg. Helen tirelessly served the youth in the capacity as young women's president for three decades. She was a mentor and friend to many young women who needed her guidance and council and to this day they would come up to her and thank her for helping them through some rough times. Helen was the type of person who would make you feel as though she had known you for years and she honestly cared about you the minute she met you. She had a kind loving heart and helped out anyone in need. She truly touched many lives and will be missed by many. Helen is survived by Daughter, Christine (Guy) Hollingsworth of Idaho Falls, ID Daughter, Tami Elaine Davenport of Pocatello, ID Son, Troy Lynn (Jonnie) Davenport of Rush Springs, OK Brother, Robert (Jeanette) McCulloch of )Springfield OR Brother, Ross (Betty) McCulloch of Idaho Falls, ID Sister, Glennis Nedrow of Rexburg, ID and 7 Grandchildren.
