Helen Contreras

IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Helen Rodriquez Contreras, 58, of Idaho Falls, passed away June 22, 2010, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. She was born April 14, 1952, at Gatesville, Texas to Raymond Rodriquez and Mary Lopez Rodriquez. She grew up and attended schools in the area. She later attended Eastern Idaho Technical College (EITC) in Idaho Falls. On May 13, 1970, she married Frank Contreras, Jr. In Idaho Falls. He preceded her in death on March 13, 1996. She was a devoted mother and homemaker and was a member of the Catholic Church. Helen enjoyed playing Softball and was on a team in Germany that won the championship. She also enjoyed football, Sanjuriu Karate, beading, dancing, gambling, and Zen-time. She especially loved spending time with her family. Survivors include: Son: Eugene Contreras, Idaho Falls, ID Daughter: Margarita Contreras-Mendoza, Idaho Falls, ID Son-in-law: Ruben Mendoza, Jr., Colorado Daughter: Mary Contreras, Idaho Falls, ID Son-in-law: Alejandro M. Armenta, Jr, Idaho Falls, ID Daughter: Frankey Contreras, Idaho Falls, ID Brother: Daniel Rodriquez, Oklahoma Brother: Richard Rodriquez, Hawaii Sister: Connie Rogers, Michigan Sister: Adela Ramos, Blackfoot, ID Sister: Beatric Rodriquez, Blackfoot, ID Father-in-law: Frank Contreras, Sr., Idaho Falls, ID 11 Grandchildren and 3 Great Grandchildren She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her daughter-in-law, Gina Contreras; two brothers, Conrad Rodriquez and Fred Rodriquez; sister-in-law, Nancy Paez Contreras; 2 grandchildren, Dylan James Scott Contreras and Diego Manuel Vasquez Contreras; and a niece, Rosario Contreras. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 26, 2010, at Wood Funeral Home (273 N. Ridge) with Deacon Rodriquez officiating. The family will visit with friends on Friday from 6-8:00 p.m. and Saturday for one hour prior to the service, both at Wood Funeral Home. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
