HELEN CHRISTENSEN Click here to view Helen's Video Tribute IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Helen Gessel Christensen, 94, of Idaho Falls, passed away June 7, 2010, at her home. She was under the care of Helping Hands Hospice. She was born January 12, 1916, in Logan, Utah, to Henry Ariel Gessel and Adeline Bench Gessel. She grew up in the Logan area and graduated from the local high school. She married James O. Christensen, Sr. on September 10, 1934, in Rexburg, Idaho. They were later sealed in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple, March 12, 1946. James died December 31, 1991. They lived in Driggs until 1950, when they moved to Idaho Falls. Helen was a mother and homemaker and worked at the Westbank Motel as a housekeeper. Helen was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she served as a Primary teacher, in Relief Society and as a visiting teacher. She enjoyed embroidery, crocheting, cooking, canning and especially her grandchildren. Helen is survived by: Daughter, Jerry (Otis) Walker of Idaho Falls, Idaho Son, James O. (Anna) Christensen of Idaho Falls, Idaho Son, Henry R. (Carol) Christensen of Keizer, Oregon 14 Grandchildren and 40 Great Grandchildren and 11 Great Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, James, son, Larry K. Christensen, grandson, Larry J. Christensen and great grandson, Andrew J. Palmer. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 11, 2010, at theIdaho Falls LDS 18th Ward Chapel, 1200 Dunbar with Bishop Cloyd Jones officiating. The family will visit with friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, June 10th at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge and from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services at the church.
