Heber Lynn Andrus

Heber Lynn Andrus, age 75, passed away on June 11, 2025, surrounded by his family after his long and courageous battle with cancer. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, friend, and a faithful disciple of Jesus Christ.

Heber was born in Idaho Falls, Idaho, on June 23, 1949, to his parents, Douglas Milo Andrus and Veatrice Nelson, and was the fourth of six children. He truly admired and loved his parents and siblings.

Heber attended New Sweden Elementary School, O. E. Bell Jr. High, and graduated from Skyline High School in 1967 where he enjoyed wrestling and playing the trombone.

He served a mission from 1968 to 1970 for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to the New England States Mission, which covered six states and eastern Canada at the time. He loved his mission and mission president and spoke about this experience often throughout his life.

On February 14, 1973, he married his sweetheart, Carolyn Hegerhorst, in the Salt Lake City Temple for time and all eternity. They are the parents of eight children and the grandparents of 46 grandchildren. His family meant the world to him and this is where he loved spending his time. He prioritized family time and loved teaching them, laughing with them, and supporting them in all of their various interests and activities.

He attended Ricks College and later graduated from Brigham Young University in 1974 with a degree in Business Management. After graduating, he pursued his dream and passion to join his family's Idaho based trucking company, Doug Andrus Distributing. He loved working with his brother, Doug Andrus Jr., and they grew the company into what it is today, developing some of the most meaningful relationships of his life along the way.

Heber was a devoted and faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had the opportunity to serve in a variety of leadership positions that filled him with so much gratitude and purpose. He served twice as a bishop and served in two stake presidencies, totaling 30+ years of church service. He sincerely loved and cherished those with whom he served, those that he served, and his Savior, Jesus Christ. One of his favorite scriptures includes the phrase, “be of good cheer,” which many heard him often say.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three siblings: Norma Fielding, Douglas Andrus Jr., and David Andrus. He was also preceded by his brothers-in-law, Gary Orchard and Don Fielding.

Heber is survived by his wife, Carolyn; his eight children, Jason (Holly), Jennifer (Lindsay) Sewell, Tonya (Seth) Byington, Michael (Jenny), Kristy (Casey) Mickelsen, Jonathan (Krystal), Tina (Joe) Wilkinson, Kelly (Drew) Meppen; his siblings, Janet Orchard and Stephen Andrus; 46 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
