Hazel Beesley

Click Here To View Memorial Video Hazel Lavella Fisher Beesley, 85, returned to her Heavenly Father on September 16, 2014 in Twin Falls, Idaho. She was born at home (along with her twin sister, Helen) on September 10, 1929 in Poplar, Idaho to Alma Lehi (Doc) Fisher and Martha Pearl Baker. She had 4 brothers and 7 sisters. She spent her childhood in the Ririe area and graduated from Ririe High School in 1947. She married Darwin Champion in 1948 and together they had three daughters - Judy, Nanci and LeeAnn. They were later divorced. She married Dean Beesley on March 28, 1956 in Elko, Nevada and she became a stepmother to Dean's daughter, Cheryl. Together they had two more daughters - Janet and Sandy. Dean's job took them to a new town every year in their mobile home until they bought a house in Idaho Falls in 1968. She was so content and happy about being able to live in a house and in one place. Hazel went to beauty school in Montpelier, Idaho and became a licensed beautician. When the family moved to Idaho Falls, Dean built her a beauty shop in the basement of their home on Holbrook Drive and that's where Hazel's Beauty Basement came to be. They built a house on Amy Lane in 1976 where she continued her beauty business in their new home. She made some lifelong friends while working in that little hair salon. She became a grandma to a beautiful granddaughter on their wedding anniversary on March 28, 1965. Hazel was an amazing and fun grandma to her grandchildren and she was always there to step up to help her three grandsons who lived near her in Idaho Falls. She made baby blankets for every new baby in the family and many of her children and grandchildren have a special keepsake quilt made just for them. She LOVED to have her family come to visit (as often as possible!) The greatest joy of her life was being with her daughters and her grandchildren. She loved to talk about her parents and held fond memories of her childhood. She loved and respected her parents and often told us how much she admired them both and what wise people they were. She enjoyed making big dinners when she knew her family was coming to visit and would always ask if we could stay "just a little bit longer." Hazel was very outgoing and loved to socialize and go visit her children. She loved to make people laugh and really enjoyed being the center of attention. Hazel is survived by five daughters; Cheryl (Bob) Bottom, Judy Skinner, Nanci Champion, Janet (John) VanderStappen, Sandy (Blake) Nuffer, 15 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren (and one on the way!), and 3 great great grandchildren; her twin sister, Helen and her sister, Evelyn. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dean, her daughter, LeeAnn, and 9 of her siblings. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 22, at the Ammon LDS 26th Ward, 1100 South Tiebreaker Drive, with Bishop Pinson officiating. The family will visit with friends from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. before services Monday at the church. Burial will be in the Ammon Cemetery under the direction of Wood Funeral Home in Idaho Falls.
