Robert Harry Barker, 73, of Island Park, Idaho, passed away December 27, 2014, at his home following a long illness.
Harry was born April 3, 1941, in Logan, Utah, to Irvin Lee Barker and Ida Lucille Ashliman Barker. The family moved to Idaho Falls, where he grew up and attended schools. He graduated from Idaho Falls High School. He also attended trade school in Pocatello.
On August 22, 1958, he married Patricia Gale Forman in Idaho Falls, and they were married for twenty five years and raised three daughters. They moved to Island Park in 1972. They were later divorced.
On October 4, 1985, he married Joanna Torp in Idaho Falls, Idaho. They made their home in Island Park, where they have resided throughout their married life and raised their daughter, Kellie, and great grandson, Tracyn. Harry continued his many occupations as Master Carpenter, home and cabin building in Island Park. He also owned his own logging company, was a long haul truck driver, and retired from the Fremont County Sewer Department in 2006.
Harry was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He loved woodworking and the outdoors. His biggest passion in life was being outdoors. He could track anything from a mouse to a Yeti. He loved every aspect of fishing and hunting, from his early passion of bow hunting to his black powder rifles. During hunting season, nothing mattered except hunting!
Harry is survived by his loving wife of nearly 30 years, Joanna Barker of Island Park, ID;
daughter, Cristie (David) Petersen of Victor, ID,
daughter, Cynthia (John) Chase of Roberts, ID,
daughter, Laurie (Stephen) Augustin of Island Park, ID,
daughter, Cynthia (Reed) Baron of West Valley City, UT,
daughter, Kellie Barker of Idaho Falls, ID,
great grandson, Tracyn Mallow of Island Park, ID,
brother, Merlin Tom (Mary) Barker of Island Park, ID,
brother, Richard (Orma) Barker of Shelley, ID.
19 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Irvin and Ida Barker, a sister, LeeAnn Fisher, a stepdaughter, a stepson, and three grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 3, 2015, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue. The family will visit with friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday and Saturday from 1:00 p.m. to 1:45 p.m., both at Wood Funeral Home. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
