Harper Kay Morris, 91, of Idaho Falls, passed away on March 22, 2014, at his home. He was born May 1, 1922, in Lewisville, Idaho, to Herbert James Morris and Norma Harper Morris. He grew up and attended schools in the area, graduating from Rigby High School. He attended Ricks College where he graduated with an Associate Degree. In 1942, he joined the U.S. Army and served as a B-24 co-pilot during World War II in the Pacific. On January 2, 1946, he married Lugene Waddoups in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. He graduated with a degree in music from Brigham Young University in 1949, and returned to Idaho Falls. In August of 1950, he was called to active duty with the 116th Engineers and reported to Fort Belvoir, Virginia. He served for twenty-five years in Germany, Iran, Vietnam, and across the United States. After retiring from the Army, he settled in Idaho Falls and worked for School District 91. He then worked for DHRCO, and retired for the second time in 1976. Kay was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He had numerous callings including Branch President, Servicemen’s Coordinator for Vietnam in 1965, and many music positions. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, bowling, and spending time with his family. Survivors are: Wife: Lugene Morris, Idaho Falls, ID Son: Brian (Teresa) Morris, Idaho Falls, ID Daughter: Marcia (David) Bailey, Idaho Falls, ID Daughter: Gerri Lyn (Craig) Curry, Littleton, CO 8 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren He was preceded in death by his parents and both of his siblings. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 29, 2014, at the Idaho Falls LDS 31st Ward (1165 Azalea) with Bishop Dennis Wahlquist officiating. The family will visit friends on Friday from 6:30-8 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home (273 N. Ridge) and on Saturday from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to the services at the church. Burial will be in Rigby-Pioneer Cemetery with military rites performed by the Jefferson County Veterans Team and Idaho Honor Guard.
