HAROLD GEORGE MILLER JR. IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Harold George Miller Jr., 83, of Idaho Falls, died July 7, 2007, at his home of natural causes. He was born June 11, 1924, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Harold George Miller and Dorothy Linsley Miller. He grew up in the Sugarhouse area and moved with his family to Ucon when he was 12 years old. He graduated from Idaho Falls High School in 1943 and enlisted in the U. S. Army in 1944 and served as a T/4 in the 185th Engineer Combat Battalion during World War II. He married Rhoda Hansen December 11, 1944, in Idaho Falls, and their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. He continued his army service until the end of World War II, when he was transferred to Texas to complete his enlistment. Following his military service they returned to Idaho Falls, where he worked as a machinist for Pioneer Machinery. He later worked as a machinist and machinist supervisor for E.G.&G. at the INL and helped set up reactors in Japan and Germany. He retired in 1990. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and building and flying radio controlled model airplanes. Survivors include: Wife: Rhoda Miller of Idaho Falls, ID Daughter: Carolyn Miller of Idaho Falls, ID Son: Dale (Loretta) Miller of Salt Lake City, UT Daughter: Susan (Paul) Pack of Ammon, ID Daughter: Janet (Daryl) Bates of Cedar Hills, UT Son: Kent (Cindy) Miller of Parker, CO Daughter: Jackie (Andy) Grimesey of Seattle, WA Brother: Lowell (Lavina) Miller of American Fork, UT Brother: Richard (Suzanne) Miller of Idaho Falls, ID 24 Grandchildren & 11 Great Grandchildren He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 12, 2007, at the Idaho Falls LDS Mountain View Ward, 1450 Mountain View Lane, with Bishop Kerry Holmgren officiating. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge, and Thursday from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park under the direction of Wood Funeral Home. His contributions to the development of the MTR neutron velocity selector and other equipment were critical to their success.
