Harold Hellekson

Harold Walter Hellekson, 73, of Menan, passed away January 10, 2017, at his home. He was under the care of Aspen Home Health & Hospice. Harold was born May 19, 1943, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to Howard Waldo Hellekson and Gertrude Christina Nesja Hellekson. He grew up and attended schools in Bismarck, North Dakota, graduating from Bismarck High School. He also attended Bismarck Jr. College for one year and Concordia College for three years where he received his Bachelor’s Degrees in Accounting and Social Work. On February 14, 1994, he married Barbara Lynn Cooper in Idaho Falls. Harold and Barbara made their home in Menan, Idaho. Harold worked as a car salesman for 30 years in Idaho Falls. He was a member of the Lutheran Church. Harold enjoyed cars, doing yard work, boating, fishing, and water-skiing. He taught agriculture skills to the Vietnamese while there on a government contract. Above all, Harold enjoyed serving others. Harold is survived by his loving wife of almost 23 years, Barbara Hellekson of Menan, ID; and sister, Alva Eileen (Bill) Townsend of Bismarck, ND. He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Gertrude Hellekson. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 14, 2017, at the Menan LDS 2nd Ward, 3547 E. Menan Lorenzo Highway, with Bishop Matt Hancock officiating. The family will visit with friends from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Burial will be in the Annis-Little Butte Cemetery.
