Harold Theodore Farnlund, 97, of Idaho Falls, passed away April 25, 2023, at Idaho Falls Community Hospital. He was under the care of Aspen Home Health & Hospice and his loving family.
Harold was born August 23, 1925, in Ketchum, Idaho, to August Theodore Farnlund and Clara Davis Farnlund. He grew up and attended schools in Ketchum and Mountain Home, Idaho.
Harold served in the US Navy in the South Pacific during WW II from February 1944 to the spring of 1946. He again served from September 1950 to December 1951 in Japan and near North Korea during the Korean War. He was proud to have served his country during these conflicts and likewise proud to wear his WW II Veteran cap.
On January 15, 1948, he married Margaret Hussey in Twin Falls, Idaho. Harold and Margaret made their home in Pocatello where Harold worked as a salesman and manager for a farm supply company (Pacific Coop, later Cenex).
He was a member of the Pocatello First United Methodist Church. He enjoyed square dancing for more than 40 years, fishing, hunting, camping, motorcycle riding, and stain glass work. Harold always had a smile and a cheerful disposition and enjoyed his growing family and many friends.
Harold is survived by daughter, Colleen (Jerry) DeJournett of Star, ID; daughter, Joyce (Ray) Miles of Idaho Falls, ID; 5 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, six sisters, and one brother.
A Celebration of Life with Military Honors will be held at the Pocatello First United Methodist Church, 15th & Clark, on May 6, 2023, at 3 p.m.
