HAROLD DEVINE
IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Harold Byron Devine, 69, of Idaho Falls, formerly of Challis, died June 30, 2008, at his home due to complications from a stroke.
He was born July 31, 1938, in Deluth, Minnesota to Jay D. Nichols and Nila May Axtel Devine. He grew up and attended schools in Vallejo, California. After graduating from high school, he joined the United States Navy and served 3 years. He attended trade school to become an electronic repairman; he also attended school to become an aircraft mechanic and received on-the-job training as a crop duster pilot.
On June 26, 1965, he married Janice F. Wedin in Gridley, California. Together they raised 3 children; he has an older daughter from a previous marriage.
He served as a member of the Challis City Council.
He worked mainly in aviation as a crop-dusting pilot, an aircraft mechanic, and a back country pilot; he also worked as a TV and VCR repairman. He lived in Challis from 1980 until June of 2007, when he suffered a major stroke.
Harold enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping; he loved the Salmon River and Idaho's beautiful Central Mountains. He was an avid metal detector user and pilot, but he most loved spending time with his family and grandchildren.

16 Grandchildren & 4 Great Grandchildren
He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 brother, James Devine.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in Challis, Idaho.
