Harold "Gale" Baird

Click Here To View Memorial Video Harold Gale Baird, 89, of Idaho Falls, passed away November 30, 2014, at his home, in the arms of his loving wife. Harold was born July 13, 1925, in Preston, Idaho to Harold Baird and Verla Bennett Baird. He grew up and attended schools in Preston and moved to Idaho Falls when he was 30. On December 13, 1946, he married Velda Austin in Mink Creek, Idaho. Together they raised 3 children, Dennis, Merlin and Dixie. Harold and Velda made their home in Idaho Falls, Idaho, where Harold worked for Mt. Bell doing telephone repairs for 35 years. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Harold was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. He enjoyed camping, fishing, gardening and spending time with his grandkids and great grandkids. Harold is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Velda Baird son, Merlin Jay Baird of Idaho Falls, ID, daughter, Dixie Sayer of Idaho Falls, ID, brother, Denzil Baird of Bingham, UT, sister, Jill Hobbs of Douglas, GA, 3 grandchildren; Nikki (Mike) Duffin, Jennifer (Randy) Radford, Ryan Sayer and 9 great grandchildren He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Dennis G. Baird, son in-law, Randy Sayer, a brother, Milton Baird and a sister, LaRue Peterson. Graveside services will be held at 12 Noon, Saturday, December 6, 2014, at the Preston Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Friday from 6:30-8 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge Avenue.
