Harlan Fereday

Father, Grandfather and Friend, Harlan Fereday passed away June 6, 2014. He was an undergraduate at Idaho State University and he graduated from the University of Colorado with a degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1943. After completing OCS at Annapolis he served in WWII as an Ensign on the aircraft carrier Savoy Island which was the first Navy ship to enter Hokkaido Harbor at the end of the war. Harlan built Harlan’s of Idaho Falls Idaho, a successful plumbing and heating wholesale business. He had a beautiful bass voice and sang with several barber shop quartets including the Gleemen. His hobbies were woodcarving, tole painting and inventing practical solutions for common problems. He was a ski instructor and a Little League umpire. He also enjoyed the family cabin at Palisades where he water-skied, hiked and boated. He was a contributor to the YMCA and the Museum of Idaho. Survivors include his two children Penny Fereday and Steve (Geertje) Fereday, his grandchildren Deidre, Nathan (Paula) Robison, Stephanie Hansen and James Robison. His great-grandchildren are Rosemary, Ethan, Elsa, Elena and Ada. He was preceded in death by his first wife Arline Brown Fereday and his second wife Margie Kinghorn Fereday. He is remembered for his values, integrity and generosity in his business and personal life. A graveside memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, June 29, 2014, at Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery. Harlan's family invites you to view a photo album.
