HAL R. JOHNSON
IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Hal Roscoe Johnson, 85, of Idaho Falls,
died December 26, 2004, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.
He was born July 24, 1919, in Lincoln, Idaho, to Roscoe
Alvin Johnson and Leona Rae Hansen Johnson. He spent most of his life
in Idaho Falls, where he graduated from Idaho Falls High School. He also
attended Idaho State University in Pocatello. During World War II, he
served in the United States Army Air Corps as a Second Lieutenant.
On January 19, 1943, he married Virginia Pond in the
Logan, Utah, LDS Temple. He worked as an insurance executive. He served
in leadership positions on the state and national level in the insurance
industry. He was President of the Junior Chamber of Commerce and was actively
involved in the 24th of July celebrations.
As an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints, he served as a bishop, high councilor, counselor in
a stake presidency and Regional Representative. As a youth he served a
mission to Brazil and then in 1968 returned to serve as President of the
Brazil North Mission. In 1984, he served as a counselor in the Idaho Falls
Temple Presidency and then shortly after was called to serve as President
of the Sao Paulo Brazil Temple. At the time of his death he was serving
as Patriarch of the Ammon West Stake.
Hal enjoyed traveling, reading and being with his family
and friends.

29 Grandchildren and 35 Great Grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Jill Duffin, a stillborn baby
daughter; and a daughter-in-law, Rebecca Johnson.
Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, January
3, 2005, at the Idaho Falls LDS Woodruff 1st Ward (1660 - 12th Street),
with Bishop Larry B. Christensen officiating. The family will visit with
friends on Sunday from 6-8 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home (273 N. Ridge) and
for one hour prior to the services at the church.
Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park under the direction
of Wood Funeral Home. Military Rites will be performed by the Bonneville
County Veterans Team.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be
made to the Perpetual Education Fund of The Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints.
