H. Elizabeth Haroldsen

Hannah Elizabeth Condie Haroldsen passed away Tuesday, March 6, 2012, at her home in Idaho Falls, at the age of 84. Elizabeth, also known as Tizz, was born January 5, 1928, in Preston, Idaho, to Parley Morgan Condie and Mary Hamilton Wilson Condie, the seventh of ten children. She attended schools in Preston and graduated from Preston High School as valedictorian in 1945. She attended Utah State Agricultural College (now Utah State University) in Logan, Utah, and graduated in 1949 with a bachelor’s degree in English and French. While attending college, she met Fred Oliver Haroldsen. Their marriage on July 21, 1948 in the Logan LDS Temple, marked the start of a 64 year love affair. In 1950, Fred and Elizabeth moved to Gooding, Idaho, to Idaho Falls in 1954, where they have resided since except for two years spent in Logan, Utah, from 1959-1960. Fred and Elizabeth welcomed five children and several foster children to their home, which was always filled with love, peace, humor, conversation, and good food. Her life revolved around serving her family and her Heavenly Father. Tizz was a gracious and accomplished woman. She was a talented pianist, seamstress, quilter, and cook. She enjoyed reading and learning and passed that on to her family. She lived and taught that if one was willing to put in the effort, anything could be accomplished. She bore the difficulties of health problems for the last twenty years without complaint and with great fortitude and faith. Elizabeth was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many callings in the church, including ward and stake Relief Society president. She also served as a volunteer for LDS Social Services, working with adoptions and foster care services. In 1993-1994 she and Fred served an LDS mission in Florida. She was generous with her time as a community volunteer, working as a mentor, tutor, and organizer. Elizabeth is survived by her husband; her children, Lyn Misner of Boise, Idaho, Craig (Kathie) Haroldsen of Orem, Utah, Gwen (David) Schwieder of Iona, Brent (Donna) Haroldsen of Manteca, California, and DeAnn (Eric) Johnson of Lindon, Utah; a brother, DeLyle (Judy) Condie of Salt Lake City, and a sister, Norma (R. G.)Lisonbee of Providence, Utah; 25 grandchildren, and 27 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son-in-law, Jack Misner; a grandson Benjamin Haroldsen; six brothers, James, Grant, Lyman, Wilbur “Pat”, Wayne, and Thomas Condie; and a sister, Darlene Stoddard. Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, March 12, 2012, at the Idaho Falls LDS St. Leon First Ward, 6925 North 15th East, under the direction of Bishop D J Teichert.
