H. Owen Briggs

Harley Owen Briggs, 78, of Idaho Falls, passed away November 23, 2016, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.

Owen was born October 19, 1938, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Harley Nelson Briggs and Cora Larsen Briggs. He grew up and attended schools in the area, graduating from Idaho Falls High School. He completed his journeyman plumbers apprenticeship through Boise State University. He served as a Seaman First Class in the U.S. Navy.

On June 14, 1971, he married Mickey Isaacs Briggs in Jackson, Wyoming. Through this marriage, he added Mickey’s six boys to his life. Owen and Mickey made their home in Idaho Falls, Idaho, where Owen worked as a Plumber and Pipefitter for Idaho National Laboratories (INL).

Owen enjoyed 4-wheeling, traveling and fishing & camping with his family.

Owen is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Mickey Briggs of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Cliff (Jackie) McCowin of Lorenzo, ID, son, Mike (Judy) McCowin of Menan, ID, son, Kenny McCowin of Ammon, ID. 6 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren

He was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Karen McCowin; his sons, Jeff McCowin, Greg McCowin and Kevin Nield; sister, Betty Grasmick and brother-in-law, Leo Grasmick.

A memorial gathering will be held from 11:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 3, 2016, at Wood Funeral Home (273 N. Ridge) in Idaho Falls. Burial will be in Ammon Cemetery with military rites performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Team and Idaho Honor Guard.
