WELLINGTON BITTON SWAN VALLEY, ID -- Harry Wellington “H.W.” Bitton, 87, of Swan Valley, died June 24, 2002, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center of cancer. He was born August 6, 1914, at Riverside, Idaho, to Harry Bitton and Julia Lucinda Campbell Bitton. The family moved to Swan Valley when he was five years old and he has lived there the rest of his life. He attended Ririe Elementary, Rainy Dell, Idaho Falls High School, Rigby High, and graduated from East High School in Salt Lake City. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II. He married Thelma Challand June 29, 1942, at Swan Valley. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They lived in Swan Valley, where he farmed and worked construction. Thelma passed away April 15, 1988. He married Leah C. Ivie December 10, 1988 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served as chorister for 36 years. He also served as a temple ordinance worker, high councilman, executive secretary, Elders Quorum Teacher, and as Young Men's Superintendent. He enjoyed raising fish and sheep, ranching, dancing, and singing. Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 29, 2002, at the Palisades LDS Ward in Swan Valley, with Bishop Blake Jacobson officiating. The family will visit with friends on Friday from 7 to 8 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home, and for one hour prior to the services on Saturday at the church. Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park under the direction of Wood Funeral Home. Military Rites will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Team.
