Guy Barrus

Guy LaMar Barrus, 70, of Basalt, passed away October 27, 2025, at Idaho Falls Community Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.

Guy was born July 22, 1955, in Burley, ID, to LaMar Noble Barrus and Marilyn Fackrell Barrus. He grew up and attended schools in Firth, ID. At a young age, Guy learned how to drill wells from his dad, and he worked alongside him for many years. Eventually, he took over Barrus Well Drilling, where he continued to drill wells alongside his brother, Jeff Barrus. Guy also worked for the City of Basalt as maintenance, doing jobs such as maintaining the city water systems, sewer ponds, and snow removal. He never shied away from hard work.

On August 24, 1975, Guy welcomed his only son, John Paul Barrus into the world. They share a special bond and have many cherished memories. On August 27, 1988, he married the love of his life, LaDell Galloway, in Basalt, ID, where they made their home. Through this union, Guy gained 3 more children, Kristine, Alise, and Daniel. One of his greatest joys was spending time with his kids and grandkids and teaching them to love all the things that he loved. He was very wise and loved to instill his knowledge and advice into his children.

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He loved serving in his ward and community and was always willing to help with anything asked of him. He also loved working and attending the temple. He had a lifelong love of hunting and fishing. He would hunt just about anything. He loved the mountains and would drive around back roads for hours, sometimes days, scouting animals. He enjoyed his time he would spend at the cabin in Island Park, fishing the creek or just being outdoors. He has cherished friends he would hunt with and he would get excited when he got the opportunity to hunt with his kids or grandkids. He loved showing them his hunting skills. He also had a talent for gardening. He could grow anything. He found great fulfillment in working in his garden, growing his own food, which he loved to can and share with friends and family.

Guy is survived by his wife, LaDell Barrus of Basalt, ID; son, John Paul (Rachele) Barrus of Ammon, ID; stepdaughter, Kristine Hill of Idaho Falls, stepdaughter, Alise Moore of Basalt, ID, stepson, Daniel Fielding of WA, ID; sister, Kanine (Ron) Butler of Shelley, ID, sister, Nannett (Bert) Pincock of Rexburg, ID, brother, Jeff (Rebecca) Barrus of Firth, ID, brother, David (Tracy) Barrus of Firth, ID; and 8 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, LaMar and Marilyn Barrus; and brother, Steven Barrus.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, November 3, 2025, at the Basalt Stake Center, 823 North 6758 East. The family will visit with friends Monday from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Burial will be in the Basalt Cemetery.
