GUILA OLSEN AMMON, ID -- Guila Vera Robinson Olsen, 89, passed away November 11, 2008, peacefully at Riverview Assisted Living. She was born April 5, 1919, in Basalt, Idaho, the third child (and identical twin) of Wilburn Williams Robinson and Lillie Rebecca Gregersen Robinson. She was raised in the Basalt, Shelley, and Tyhee areas, where she attended school, completing part of 10th grade. On October 16, 1940, she married Hazen Traveller Olsen. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on October 13, 1960. They lived in Lincoln and farmed 320 acres – then the Sugar Factory farm. In 1959 they fulfilled a lifelong dream to buy their own farm in Ammon. Their family moved to Ammon in March, 1964. She and Hazen loved to bowl and they won many trophies. She also enjoyed helping Hazen on the farm – from driving the tractor to raising Holstein heifers. She loved gardening - their garden is one that all of Ammon enjoyed. She enjoyed playing the organ, crocheting, tatting, quilting and making rag rugs. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as the Secretary for Young Women's, Sunday School, and Primary organizations, and visiting teacher. She is survived by her children, Connie Guila (Kirt) Oler of Provo, Utah, H. Boyd Olsen of Ammon, Yvonne JoAnn (Thayne) Cooper of West Jordan, Utah, Katherine Kaye (Victor) Baldwin of Ammon, Pamela RaNae Olsen of Ammon, 25 grandchildren, and 53+ great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, three brothers, Alma, Carl, and Gale Robinson, two sisters, Gwen Corgatelli (her twin), and Versal Butler, a daughter, Valery Jean, and a great grandson, Brandon Oler. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 15, 2008, at the Ammon LDS 15th Ward Chapel, 3934 East 49th South, with Bishop Brett Acor officiating. The family will meet with friends Friday from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 South Ammon Road, and prior to the services Saturday from 9:30 to 10:40 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Lincoln Cemetery. The family would like to thank family, friends, the caregivers at Riverview Assisted Living (especially Olga and Isabel, who were special angels to our mother), and Aspen Hospice for their love and support. --------------------------------------------- Condolences received online: David and Yvonne Jorgensen Jorgensen@ida.net Our thoughts are with you today. What a sweet lady. She and Hazen were always a great example to me.
