Gregory Q John, 75, of Idaho Falls, passed away September 21, 2025, at his home.

Greg was born October 16, 1949, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to David John Jr. and Aurora Quintella John. He grew up and attended schools in California, and graduated from Luther Burbank High School in 1967. He also attended Sacramento City College until joining the United States Navy in 1969.

On August 9, 1969, he married Deborah Francis Pugh in Sacramento, California. To this union was born one son, Eric John. They were later divorced.

Greg served his country in the United States Navy. He spent most of his 27-year Naval career in “The Silent Service” as an Electrician’s Mate. During his time in the Navy, he was able to achieve the rank of Master Chief Petty Officer and proudly served as the “Chief of the Boat (COB)” of the USS New York City. Throughout his military career, Greg was able to travel the world and after his retirement, he made his home in Idaho Falls, Idaho.

He was a member of the Catholic Church. He enjoyed restoring cars, working on anything with an engine, tinkering in the garage, being outdoors, and baking. He loved his two granddaughters and enjoyed supporting them by attending all of the activities that they were involved in.

Greg is survived by his son, Eric (Kim) John of Idaho Falls; grandchildren, Jordyn John and Madisyn John, both of Idaho Falls; brothers, David (Christine) John III of Citrus Heights, CA, Martin Tedrow of Goodyear, AZ, Frank Tedrow of Dublin, CA, and Russell (Michelle) Tedrow Jr. of Cool, CA.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Randy John.
