Gregory LaMont Hanson, 37, of Idaho Falls, passed away on July 29, 2015.
He was born August 16, 1977, in Provo, Utah to LaMont Dix Hanson and Diane Searle Hanson. The family moved to Idaho Falls where he attended schools and graduated from Idaho Falls High School. He continued his education by attending Idaho State University in Pocatello, Idaho where he received an Associate’s Degree.
In 1996, Greg married Stephanie Jo Shafer in Idaho Falls. Together they had three children, two sons and a daughter. They later divorced. He enjoyed working as a computer programmer at Premier Performance.
Greg was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He worked in the Primary and Young Men’s organizations. Greg enjoyed all sports, especially soccer. He attended several games including Barcelona, Spain and was a fan of Real Salt Lake. He was an avid fan of the San Francisco Giants and attended several games with his children and brothers. He especially enjoyed watching his children participate in their various sporting activities. His oldest son, Gage, was recently accepted to the University of Utah for which Greg was extremely proud.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Wendell E. Searle.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 1, 2015, at the Idaho Falls LDS Stake Center (1155 1st Street) with Bishop Brian McBride of the Sand Creek 1st Ward officiating. The family will visit with friends on Friday from 6:30-8 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home (273 N. Ridge) and on Saturday from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to the services at the church.
Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations will be accepted at Beehive Federal Credit Union, 1650 East Sunnyside Road in Idaho Falls.
