GREG FRANDSEN IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Greg Bryan Frandsen, 53, of Idaho Falls, died June 4, 2004, at his home of a brain tumor. He was under the care of the Aspen Foundation for Hospice Care. Born March 24, 1951, at Price, Utah, to O'dell Anderson Frandsen and Ona Velyn Mortensen Frandsen, Greg lived in Price until age three, when the family moved to Vernal, Utah. He graduated from Uintah High School in Vernal, then attended Utah State University and Brigham Young University, where he obtained his bachelor's degree. He earned his Masters in Mechanical Engineering from Oregon State University. He lived in Kennewick, Washington, for nine years before moving to Idaho Falls 20 years ago. Greg married his eternal companion, Donna Rae Anderson, on August 22, 1972, in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. He began his career in 1975 as a mechanical engineer at Westinghouse Hanford Company. In 1979 he moved into management at the FMEF - Westinghouse Hanford Company, and later became manager of Remote Handling Engineering & Technology at Westinghouse Hanford. In 1984 they moved to Idaho Falls, where he took a position as Manager of Quality and Productivity at Westinghouse Idaho Nuclear Company at the INEEL. He later became manager of WINCO Engineering. In 1995, he became Deputy General Manager of Nuclear Operations at Lockheed Idaho Technologies and then General Manager of Environmental Management Integration. He worked at Bechtel as Director of Environmental Technology Planning & Integration. He was a member of the National American Nuclear Society and served in many positions, including on the board of directors. He was the recipient of many national awards and recognitions. Greg earned his Eagle Scout Award through the Boy Scouts of America in his youth and was active in scouting his whole life. He was awarded the Silver Beaver Award in April, 2004. He coached his sons in soccer, basketball, and Little League Baseball for over a decade. An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Greg has served in leadership positions since his young adulthood. Besides his active participation in the Scouts, he served as President of the Young Men's Association, on the Stake High Council, and in five bishoprics, most recently as Bishop of the Idaho Falls Brentwood Ward. In his youth he served a full-time mission to Argentina, then later served stake missions in Kennewick, Washington, and Idaho Falls, Idaho. Greg loved woodworking, gardening, camping, hiking, traveling, and doing just about anything with his family, especially his grandchildren, Irelynd, Drake & Zander Brown, and Audrey & Marian Grace Goates. The family will visit with friends Monday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home (273 N. Ridge), and on Tuesday for one hour prior to the services at the church. Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park under the direction of Wood Funeral Home. The family suggests memorials in Greg's name (which will be used to benefit the Boy Scouts of America) can be taken or mailed to Westmark Federal Credit Union, Greg Frandsen Memorial Fund, c/o Donna Frandsen, P.
