GREENLAND C. SIMPSON
IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Greenland Cadman Simpson, 85, of Idaho Falls, passed away March 6, 2006, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.
He was born July 15, 1920, in Winter Quarters, Utah, to George Henry Simpson and Annie Elizabeth Knecht Simpson. He spent his early years in Salt Lake City and attended Webster Elementary, then moved with his family to Idaho Falls when he was 12 years old. He graduated from Idaho Falls High School in 1938. He served as a purser in the Merchant Marines during World War II.
He married Valeta Lavelle Gosselin March 17, 1951, in Idaho Falls. Their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple August 31, 1963. He worked as controller and business manager at the Idaho Falls LDS Hospital. Valeta passed away April 13, 2003.
An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served in various callings over the years, and was Bishop of the Idaho Falls 8th Ward. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, and especially loved spending time with his grandsons, Michael Gary (Katie) Simpson, Greenland Kevin Simpson, and Nathan Russell Simpson, and great grandson, Jacob Michael Simpson.

Sister: Barbara Miller of Salt Lake City, UT
Sister-In-Law: Vella Orme of Idaho Falls, ID
Sister-In-Law: Ione Simpson of Salt Lake City, UT
3 Grandsons and 1 Great Grandson
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Valeta, two sisters, Marguerite Blair and Dorothy Watson, and two brothers, Delmer Simpson and George Simpson.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 11, 2006, at the Idaho Falls LDS Central Stake Center, 2025 Jennie Lee Drive, with Bishop Nathan Smith of the 3rd Ward officiating. The family will visit with friends for one hour prior to the services at the church.
Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park under the direction of Wood Funeral Home.
