GRANT J. CLEVERLEY
IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Grant J. Cleverley, 75 of Idaho Falls, Idaho died December 4, 2002, at Idaho Falls Care Center following an illness. He was born May 26, 1927, at Shelton, Idaho, to Delbert Franklin and Mayme Louise Johnson Cleverley. He attended schools at Buck, Milo, Ucon and Rigby, graduating from Rigby High School in 1944.
On November 3, 1948, he married Marjorie Call in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He served as Bishop of the American Falls 1st Ward for nearly seven years. He also served on the High Council in the American Falls Stake, The Idaho Falls South Stake, and the Idaho Falls Central Stake. He was Stake Patriarch in the Idaho Falls, Idaho Central Stake. He and his wife served as missionaries in the Idaho Falls Family History Center for two and a half years and then for one year in the Louisiana Baton Rouge Mission. He truly loved serving the Lord. His interests and vocation were mainly farm related, working for Utah-Idaho Sugar Co. for 17 years, the last nine years of which he was manager of the Idaho farms. He worked for General Mills as manager of the elevator and seed operation in Idaho Falls. At the time of his retirement, he was working for Busch Ag. Services.
He is survived by his wife, Marjorie of Idaho Falls, six daughters: Vicki Chapman, Mesa, AZ, Marcia (Pat) Mais, Idaho Falls, ID, Diane (Fred) Prince, Boise, ID, Dawna Jean (Wade) Peterson, Soldotna, AK, Annette (Richard) West, Smithfield, UT, Marlene (Larry) Hilton, Johnstown, CO, and 2 sons: Rodney Grant (Nancy) Cleverley, American Falls, ID, and Steven J. (Denise) Cleverley, Westminster, CO. 25 Grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren, a sister: Eva Jean (E. H.) Call, Orem, UT, two brothers: Owen (Margie) Cleverley, Pocatello, ID, Wayne (Barbara) Cleverley, Pleasant Grove, UT, a sister-in-law: Virginia (Mark) Cleverley, Rexburg, ID. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Alta Top and Dorothy Tyler, and one brother, Mark Cleverley, three brothers-in-law: Norman Top, Jay Tyler, and Dean Call.
Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, December 9, 2002, at the Idaho Falls LDS 31st Ward, 1165 Azalea, with Bishop Terry Hale officiating.
The family will visit with friends on Sunday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home (273 North Ridge) and one hour prior to the services on Monday at the church.
Burial will be in Rigby-Pioneer Cemetery under the direction of Wood Funeral Home.
